Fees for using own modem - and lies (ignorance) by Ebox staff

I can't reply to archived posts, but I feel this topic needs to be re-addressed by Ebox management with their customer sales staff. She called Ebox, told them she wanted FTTN25 and that she had her own modem to use. Ebox staff told her that she had to pay a $25 fee to use her own modem because they (Ebox) have to configure it to work with their equipment otherwise her service will not work. As well all know, this is complete bullshit when it comes to DSL. I understand the business need to recover the costs charged by Bell/Videotron/Rogers, etc, but be honest about the reasons for the costs when a (potential) customer asks. Instead, due to the lack of transparency and lack of knowledge on the part of Ebax staff, my friend has been sent to the arms of Videotron where she's getting 100 Mbs for $50/mo for 24 months, she'll see what's available in 24 months.
