After working very late into the morning Tuesday, it was time to upload a 55MB video to my own hosting. At from 3Am to 5Am, the upload speed was 8kb/s. Around 5 or 6, it went up to 80kb/s. This is still pretty bad, isn't it? I'm on the 1mbit/s upload plan, so in bytes I should be getting 125kB per second,no?
I emailed EBox and they said my modem speeds were normal but that they would give me a new modem, first three months free. As they said:
// I checked the signals of the modem they are OK.
// If the problem persist, then I would suggest to you to come over and pick up a brand new modem at our EBOX store neat the metro Longueuil station.
// I spoke with my supervisor and he's ready to rent you a brand new modem for 90 days free of charge. You only need to come and pick it up at the store.
Translation: your modem seems fine, but go away and here's three months free on something you do not need. So, Question: does this sound normal? Am I getting the shaft here?
I've been a customer for 8 years, and it seems like the service is declining. 8kb/s is like 1993.
