I've been with ebox since october and have been quite satisfied thus far in terms of reliability.
I am currently on the 30/5 R-Cable plan - 250GB bandwith. I am currently debating between upgrading this plan or checking out the FTTN packages, but have some questions that hopefully someone can answer.
I was originally looking for the 75/10 R-Cable package, although the current drawback i am currently facing on my current plan is in regards to ping. i typically average 30-50ms ping all day every day. I've opened up support threads and such and unfortunately it has not resolved. It's possibly the free smartrg unit supplied, although i've given up at this point. Moving to the 75 plan would obviously result in myself changing modems, although i'm quite hesitatant to purchase a modem and be left with the same ping situation.
The fttn pacakage 50/10 seems extremely enticing. I remember back on the days with bell dsl, i've had 10 ping constantly. The modems are not listed on their approved modem list for FTTN? can i buy my own? if i purchase from ebox, which one is supplied? These are some of the questions i am pondering. Can any user on the 50/10 package possibly tell me ping results?
In conclusion
1) how are latency speeds on FTTN 50/10
2) Modem purchase? Which modems are available for FTTN packages
3) going fttn, is there an activation fee? even though i'm on ebox?
4) i don't have active phone line in the home, are there additional charges?
5) opinion - 75/10 cable, or 50/10 fttn? --- All bandwith aside, i don't even need to go as high as 75 as even on my 30 plan, i stream and do everything i need quite comfortably.
Thanks for any advice.
