Hi Guys,
I've been with Ebox a few months now using their 120MB cable and voip telephone service using the Mediatrix 4102 box in the Montreal area.
My original setup had the provided cable box Technicolor TC4300.E connected to the internet port of my Linksys 1900acs router
and the Mediatrix box connected directly to a LAN port of the Linksys with voip ports forwarded (tcp/udp 69/2765/5060).
This setup seemed to work fine for awhile except for a few dropped calls until the other day when I noticed I could no longer dial out to most numbers - I say most because strangely a couple of cell numbers in the 514 area code tested were ok, incoming calls were ok.
I then resorted to hook up the mediatrix as per ebox's original recommendation however with the voip box between the modem and router my 120mb speed is now reduced to about 90mb because the mediatrix is only a 100mb device.
This bothers me somewhat because of course im paying for a 120mb line and only getting 90.
I contacted support but unfortunately they were not able to explain why this was happening and recommended I set it up as they originally suggested.
Does anyone have any experience with this type of setup? Are there any other voip ports that need to be opened or config needed in the Linksys?
Thanks for your help,
↧
