Hi Guys, So I have a problem with EBox internet where my connection drops frequently. I changed the modem, called a technician to come but still have the problem. Here's the log of my modem. Fiber cut - downtown MTL

Yesterday we had a 144 fiber strands cable cut downtown Montreal on avenue des canadiens that essentially cut 100 Gbit/s of traffic between Cologix 1250 and Cologix 1155 René-Lévesque. This core node is responsible of transporting all V-Cable traffic of Quebec province. Thankfully we designed our own DWDM network with diversity in mind. Result was that yesterday while we could have gone through one of the biggest and darkest outage in EBOX history, the impact was zero...niet...nada. Just a reminder that a diversified design is so important even if the cost is higher. For enterprises & ISP that need transport downtown Montreal between datacenters, EBOX has a diversified network that can help you transport large amount of protected traffic. -- EBOX - Jean-Philippe Béïque Ebox forum http://www.dslreports.com/forum/cover,2618~mode=shut

Extreme Disappointment from EBOX Service for New Connection Setup

I ordered a new internet connection (50mbps with 1000 GB cap along with router and Cell Line) on 21st of July, I selected date to be 27th of July for Installation. Later i was called and given the date to be 29th Of July between 5:00 PM-8:00 PM(I requested it to be 6:00 PM but i was told I have to be at my home before 5:00 PM for Installation. I left my office early and arrived before time but the technician never showed up till 8:00. I called the help line and was informed that the technician will come by before 9:00 PM and he still never showed up. I wasted 4 hours waiting for the guy and he didnt bother to even contact me. I wasted my work time for which i am paid on hourly rate but EBOX technician didnt have decency to call me and inform me that he will not show up. Next Morning on Saturday 30th, July around 10:30 AM I called the help line and was informed that i have to go in person to the Ebox office to pick my Modem and the appointment was rescheduled to be at 5 PM , Now while i was at EBOX office, technician visited my home (again without contacting me before coming) and he left before i got back from EBOX office. I double checked at EBOX office that my appointment time was still scheduled for 5 PM on 30th(Saturday). The guy again didnt show up and when i called help line again i was informed that the guy visited in day time and i was not at my home(i was at EBOX office at that time). Now i requested for an other date to be done on Monday (1st Aug, as in this week i have to leave Montreal and i need net setup before i fly). I have called EBOX multiple times but to no avail. They are wasting my precious time due to un professional behaviors. I have a job and i can not keep skipping work to be made available for technicians who show up when they feel like it and do not keep the appointment times. I was told Ebox will call me today, but so far no reply from them even though i have already called them in morning again to give me an appointment time. Now if they do not contact me , EBOX can take their modem back and i want full refund as you guys have wasted enough of my time and energy. 1)They did not inform me i have to go personally pick up modem. 2) they did not keep the appointment time. 3) the technician came without informing while i was visiting EBOX office 4) technician did not keep the 2nd appointment time again. 5) EBOX did not call back even after my multiple requests. Extremely disappointed by this service so far.

USAGE PAGE - Show as MB when below 1 GB. Show as KB when below 1 MB

For the Internet Usage page: http://conso.ebox.ca/index.php the display is very "G" happy.."G" as in Gigabyte. Firstly, is it possible to switch the "G" to the more natura lookingl: "GB"?. Secondly, this usage page is exclusively "G" and so decimal representations like "0.015 G" is way too common. Sadly this has very little meaning compared to the more natural "15 MB" (for this example). I obviously want "GB" (err, "G") to remain but it would go a long way for customers if you guys also added "MB" and "KB". It wouldn't be hard at all. Just 2 lines of very rudimentary middle-school level of code: if (transfer_amount < 1GB) then transfer_amount *= 1000; // for MB representation if (transfer_amount < 1MB) then transfer_amount *= 1000; // for KB representation Simple and Quick to implement. Less than 30 seconds. I can only assume the only reason it wouldn't ever be added is because of sheer laziness.

Usage Details - Discrepancies

Let me start by saying I don't disagree with the overall usage on my account as reported by the graphic but the usage details appear to be way off. Let's take a look at the first few days of March. The first attachment is the usage as reported by my router and the second attachment is the usage as reported by the Ebox page. The details reported by Ebox strike me as being just a little off. :)

Anyone with Ebox having issues in Ontario (Toronto)? Called yesterday and today and they said the same thing... service issues in Ontario. Not sure if they're BS'ing me, since I dont see any other posts here or anywhere else on this? Im on the 30Mbps plan, and only getting 2Mbps right now... so quick update... my Thomson DCM475 has a weird light pattern. All 4 lights solid, but the 'link' light is constantly blinking (even when Im not using the internet). I dont think this is normal?

Disapointed in how EBox handled my case. 8 days without internet.

I have been an EBox client for the last 4 (or so) years and had been satisfied with the service I had received so far. However, I am extremely disappointed in how they handled (and are still handling) an unfortunate situation. As you may or may not be aware, there was a cable service outage in Gatineau 2 weeks ago. In the night of the 29th of August, my internet service and voip line went down. Problem is, I work from home and I need internet to do my job. Morning of the 30th I gave a call (using my prepaid cell) to EBox service and was told that there was an issue with their provider and that service should be re-established by noon. Ok, I tell myself, no problem, I can just work later to make up the time. Noon comes around and I still don’t have service. I call again. This time, I am told that they fixed the issue and that I should wait 2-3 hours and try again. Ok, I can still make this work for my job. 6PM comes around and I still don’t have service. I call again. This time I am told that they have not resolved the issue and that it will likely be fixed overnight. Whelp ok, I am out 200$ now because I can’t do my work today, I sure wish I was told earlier… To make this part of the story shorter, service did not come back until sometime on the 2nd of September (5 days). During the shortage, Ebox calls were answered after 20-45 minutes of wait time and emails were either not replied to or only replied to after several reminders and a long time (48 hours +). As a customer without service and very limited resources to reach anyone, I was disappointed with the response time. Now, unfortunately this is not the end of this story. Sunday the 11th, my modem starts behaving exactly like during the outage, it is able to get DNS and IP addresses but unable to reach webpages, same light flashing pattern. I call Ebox again. This time, I am told that my modem needs to be replaced and that they will be sending a new one. I explain to the tech I am dubious that it is the modem but sure, send the new one; this will allow me to test both. The tech mentions I can send back the new one if the old one works fine as they will be including a postage paid box. My modem comes back to life after 3-4 hours of outage. Following day, service works until exactly 12PM. My modem is flashing. Diagnostic: Network Access Creation Object- OFF. I call EboX again around 12h30 PM. The tech explains that they jumped the gun and asked their provider to cut off my existing modem off the grid (WTF?!). This was never mentioned to me prior and I specifically told the previous tech I wanted to test both modem. This new tech tells me that it is impossible to have 2 modems active at the same address. I sure wish I was told this before… So the tech tells me that they will reactivate my old modem and that it will be done during the PM of that day. September 13th, still no service same NACO-Off error. I call Ebox again: Tech: The provider did not do the modem swap because they don’t do swaps after 5PM. Me: But I called yesterday at 12PM. Tech: Oh, yes, turns out we did not put in a request. Let me do it now. The swap will be made this PM. Me:  Ironically, today is when I received my bill for the month for the full amount. *insert eye twitching emoticon* Can Ebox make this right please? TL,DR Guy misses at least 1 day of work and spends literally several hours (almost 4 now) on his prepaid phone, at his cost, trying to get his internet back while being fed misinformation and given the run around. Issue still not resolved after 8 days without service. PS: I know that Ebox is not responsible for what their provider does and I am not blaming them for the (first) outage. I fully intend to write to the CRTC about that as I think the provider was dragging their feet about fixing the issues (5 days!).

Hi guys, just a FYI we currently experience a fiber optic problem in 1250 rené-lévesque that affect multiple lines including our office. We expect to be back at taking calls as soon as our route is repaired. In the meantime we cannot take inbound calls at the moment. This does not affect rest of the network.
